How to Recognize Health Issues in Dogs and Cats

By Peter Fred Smith

It is great to have a dog or cat running around your home when they are happy and energetic. They provide warmth and friendliness and enjoyable fun to a person.

However, occasionally a pet can develop an illness or a simple cold or cough which can bring about responsibilities for you to address. So you should be aware of the types of issues that you can face.

Even though pets are fun when they are healthy, it is your responsibility as a pet owner to take care of them when they aren't so well. That comes along with the territory.

Your pet comes to expect that you will assist it whenever it needs something. So you can't just leave it to fend for itself when things aren't going well.

So try to figure out the hints that your pet gives that something is wrong. There are a few things that you should know about and they tend to come up from time to time unfortunately.

A dog can have an upset tummy for a number of causes but it helps to know what the symptoms are. Many times they will be drinking a lot more and won't eat properly and there are various explanations for this.

When a cat is urinating frequently and loses weight it could very well have feline diabetes. An owner should go to a vet to decide how to deal with such a condition.

Pets that sneeze a lot might have some allergies to anything be it on the ground or in the air. It would be a good idea to move the pet to another room.

As a pet owner you should know your pet and if it is being different for any reason, consider that something might be wrong. If you have this in mind you can figure out what to do about it and then act on it.
